Note, Jonathan Djanogly has advised that the aspects of local interest are best served by the people themselves influencing the debate, so do keep an eye open and contact the Highways Agency about the A1198 junction that we need.

Do consider contacting our MP to ensure that the limited access junction with the A1198 is included in the plans as detailed below. You can find the details to reach Mr Djanogly via: http://www.jonathandjanogly.com/

Latest: Highways Agency - Secretary of State decision is announced that the ORANGE ROUTE has been selected based upon the public consultation with residents throughout the area.
Support has been given for the removal of the viaduct in Huntingdon (which is constantly monitored now of course due to its condition) and to make the existing A14 section the route into Huntingdon removing pressure on the historic bridge over the River Great Ouse and allowing significant redevelopment and improvements in Hutingdon also.
A major benefit to Godmanchester is the placing of the general alignment south of Wood Green which will reduce pollution and noise, and lead to a more level grade for the road.
In addition consideration is being given to provide a limited access junction to the A1198 at Wood Green, which will be of direct benefit to the animal shelter and mean that Godmanchester residents travelling west on the A14 and North & South on A1, do not need to travel via Huntingdon and Brampton to access the new route. Such traffic would be deterimental to our neighbours and this can simply be avoided by inclusion of the junction withe A1198.
As this is under review, residents should be proactive in supporting such a link which will also ensure that Cardinal Way Business Park can remain viable, safe guarding jobs at the distribution companies and other businesses which are sited there due to our excellent location for transport in the region.
Well done to all involved in responding to the questionnaires and promoting a route which is optimised for the population in the entire area affected.
Guided Bus Route details can be found at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/transport/guided/
Spring 2007
A14 Impact on Ellington, Brampton, Buckden, Offord, Godmanchester, Hemingford Abbots, Hemingford Grey, Fenstanton, Fen Drayton, Conington and Hilton is shown here. Thus is it clear why no one in the area should support anything other than the Orange route.
Bookmark a14.godmanchester.net now and advise your friends and neighbours. Keep returning regularly.
- In the meantime:
- Review the A14 information from the Highways Agency (PDF here) or A14 Summary page
- Note that the Blue & Brown Routes will significantly impact more than 260 homes in GMC and many more in the Region than the Orange route, see details...
- Ensure you submit your replies to the Highways Agency and select the ORANGE Route as the optimum choice for both Godmanchester and the surrounding area for the upgraded A14.
- See below the details from Town Council and suggested letter to return to them so they can send to Highways Agency and our MP Jonathan Djanogly
Remember, if you don't act now, then your views will not be considered. Minimum Action required by all residents in Godmanchester:
- Review the information provided by Highways Agency
- You should have received a copy, if not contact Highways Agency (see left) or see details on their web site
- Complete the questionnaire (or online) and return before 9 March 2007
- Discuss with your neighbours and make sure they too have responded
- Get involved further... use this e-mail address to offer help
- You may wish to consider the benefit of additionally promoting that the orange route be aligned a little further south of Woodgreen more....
The Godmanchester Town Council contacted all residents 26 January and they are keen to gain your feedback and assist you. The letter is reproduced here.
